Center for Geroscience and Healthy Brain Aging
The Department of Biochemistry & Physiology at the Harold Hamm Health Center Campus of the University of Oklahoma is recruiting early career, tenure-track Assistant Professors who will be jointly appointed to the Center for Geroscience and Healthy Brain Aging (CfG), a highly collaborative, NIH-supported research community dedicated to understanding how aging drives disease.

Candidates who have not yet held independent NIH funding, as well as current K99/R00 awardees, are strongly encouraged to apply. Eligible new faculty will be supported through our NIH-funded Geroscience Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (CoBRE), which provides 3 to 5 years of protected research support and structured mentorship while you establish your independent funding.

RESEARCH AREAS OF INTEREST
We especially welcome candidates whose work addresses basic or translational aspects of one or more of the following areas in the context of aging:
- Inflammation and immunology
- Hallmarks of Aging and Healthspan
- Cellular senescence
- Lipid metabolism
- Neurodegeneration
Outstanding candidates in other areas relevant to geroscience are also encouraged to apply.

Applicants must hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree, have substantial postdoctoral experience, and demonstrate a strong record of research productivity together with clear potential to develop a nationally recognized, extramurally funded research program. Faculty will be expected to establish innovative, externally funded research programs and to contribute to teaching and service within the department and the university.
Prior independent NIH funding is not required. Candidates without independent NIH funding and K99/R00 awardees are particularly encouraged to apply.
A COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT
The Department of Biochemistry & Physiology is one of five basic science departments in the College of Medicine, with a highly interactive cohort of scientists working in lipid metabolism, diabetes, obesity, aging, and geroscience. New faculty will have numerous opportunities to collaborate with investigators across a dense network of research centers on or adjacent to the Harold Hamm Health Center campus:
- Center for Geroscience and Healthy Brain Aging
- Oklahoma Nathan Shock Center on Aging
- Harold Hamm Diabetes Center
- Stephenson Cancer Center (NCI-designated)
- Dean McGee Eye Institute
- Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF), adjacent to campus, with core facilities available to OU investigators
- Oklahoma City VA Medical Center
The Harold Hamm Health Campus is a comprehensive academic health center comprising the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health, and the Graduate College, and is home to two hospitals. The Laboratory for Molecular Biology and Cytometry Research provides specialized services in genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, cytometry, and imaging.
The campus is located in downtown Oklahoma City, the 20th largest city in the United States. The greater Oklahoma City area offers a rich cultural base, modern and vibrant business and entertainment districts, and a cost of living that is remarkably low relative to other university communities, allowing new faculty to enjoy an excellent quality of life while building their careers.
